QR-codes have been part of our lives for some time now. Every day we can see them somewhere in different shapes and sizes.
The entry into force of COVID 19 has also ensured that the use of QR-codes has increased considerably, especially in the hospitality sector and catering industry. The well-known drink or menu cards in book-form are however (temporarily?) no longer allowed on the tables. The QR-code offers here a very interesting, elegant and contact-free solution, also a win-win situation for customer and manager.
The QR-code makes it possible to contain the link to the drinks or menu on the website of the catering establishment. By scanning the code with the smartphone or tablet, the customer can view the food and beverage list online before the waiter arrives. Waiting for the waiter to find out what is available is therefore no longer necessary. On the other hand, the manager himself can very flexibly and very quickly adjust his offer on his website, implement the desired price changes, report that certain products are temporarily unavailable, and so on. This was certainly not as evident in the old way with the familiar menu cards...
What inspired us as Scan-Me-nu, and also bothered us, was the quality of some Labels. Many used labels are unclear, difficult to read/scan, not robust and not weatherproof. Many labels are made out of paper or sticker form, where stickers can come off or can tear. Also plasticized codes that experience problems when used outdoors due to moisture. All these options are just temporary solutions... not to mention the hygienic and visual appearance of the Label. We can do much better, we thought, and we want to do something about it!
At Scan-Me-nu, we aim to design and create elegant and super robust Tags, based on QR-codes. This for a wide variety of applications and that's why we chose the name and logo of "Scan-Me-nu" with its double meaning: On the one hand referring to the drinks and menu in the catering industry, on the other hand referring to the Dutch personal pronoun "Scan me-nu" (means "Scan-Me-now" in Dutch) to see what's behind this code.
The basic material for our QR-tags is a stainless steel (SST) Label with a thickness of 1,5 mm. The QR-code and other text information are permanently laser-engraved into the Label, as can be seen in the videos on our website. This makes the tags very strong, very durable, moisture- and temperature-resistant and therefore suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. A solution for the very long term! Cleaning is also possible!
We should also mention that the appearance of the tags is very beautiful and elegant.
Under "products" you will find different Tag designs for various applications. The Table Tag is especially designed for catering applications. Besides the QR-code for the beverage or menu card, other options are possible such as table number, an extra QR-code for a payment system such as Payconiq or an extra QR-code with link to the social media page of the catering company. Replacing existing QR-codes, related to existing payment or cash register systems, is also possible.
The Tool-Machine-Tag offers the possibility to contain your own logo or text in addition to a QR-code. We are thinking in particular of the durable Labeling of products, machines, tools, equipment, electrical or other switch boxes, vending machines .... you name it.
The Custom-Tag, on the other hand, brings us to the non-standard Tags that can be filled completely according to the customer's wishes, i.e. everything that is technically possible. Shape and size are also arbitrary.
